Inferiority complex due to status
In this world full of complexes inferiority complex also has a huge effect on youth. Many psychological problems like anxiety, sadness and depression have been raised due to this complex. However if we talk specifically about “inferiority complex due to status” then study Iife of children and youth make an effect in making such complex. Being a student in such a society where status matters a lot causes students to feel inferior. And if this complex develops in childhood then it will also have an effect on later life.
According to Adler, we all have developed inferiority complex since our childhood. And in our all life we try to compensate it. We try to be superior to others. If we discuss it’s types then there are two components of inferiority complex. Fist one is primary other one in secondary inferiority complex. Primary inferiority is developed during childhood and helps him to overcome the barriers and to perform him better and motivate him. But if this complex becomes intense and has exceed then it will lead to secondary inferiority complex which can cause serious psychological problems.
How it is developed
Now if we talk about inferiority complex in children and youth due to status then one student with high status will study in high standard school while the other one who has poor financial background will have to study in local school where there are mostly lack of facilities. However if a student’s family somehow managed to send their child in well standard school then he will face difficulties because he may fell inferior if he see other students having a lunch box full of delicious meal, bags with beautiful cartoon on it and the mean of transport on which they used to come to school. By having such environment they will tend to hide their own lackness and try to overcome their situation. Like they will force their parents to buy them pretty lunchbox, buying beautiful bags etc. They will do to remove their inferiority complex and to show that they can also have those things which others have. And if parents will not able to meet these kind of needs then it will lead the children to feel sad, depress, low self esteem and inferior from others.
Effect on behavior
If children start to feel inferior then it will effect their behavior in many ways such as feeling of embarrassment .
Fizza, a student of university told that how she developed inferiority complex on her childhood. She told that in her school life she used to get punished due to late submission of fee. She had to stand up as punishment along with other students who had not submitted their dues. Most of the students had submitted their fee on time therefore she was few of them who got punishment. Due to this reason she felt embarrassed that what would her classmates think about her financial background. In this way she got inferiority complex.
Feeling of inferior also lead the people to do such acts in which they become aggressive and they start to harm themselves.
One of the university students was being asked about her inferiority complex due to status and it effected her behavior. She told her story that she used to be bullied in university by her fellows because of having cheap mobile phone. Also if they saw her on university road then they used to bully her for being poor. This led her to feel depressed and she started to behave aggressive towards her parents and herself. She behaved badly with her parents and blamed them for everything. Also she started to torture herself.
Anxiety and Depressive behavior
Another behavior is depressive that is also very serious issue if it take exceed. Another student was being asked about his complex. He had suffered anxiety and depression due to complex of status. His classmates and friends used to go to restaurants on different occasions and were spending lavish lifestyle. By seeing this and not affording this all this made him feel inferior.
These are some major effects of inferiority complex due to status among children and youth. In a nutshell, inferiority complex is natural, every one has it .But it should not be allowed to be overshadow the skill. One must try to overcome it by having thought pattern that if they are inferior in one thing then they must be superior in other. They should struggle in overcoming their inferiority complex. This complex is enough if it remains as primary inferiority complex because it will help us to keep motivating bit we develop this complex extreme as secondary then it will lead problems to us.
